Bearcats and Red Foxes meet at 4 p.m. in Poughkeepsie

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (2-1) travels to Poughkeepsie to face Marist (0-3) Thursday afternoon. The teams meet for just the fifth time at 4 p.m. at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.

The Bearcats had their unbeaten streak snapped in a 2-0 loss at Monmouth on Sunday. The Hawks tallied two goals in an eight-minute span late in the game to break up a scoreless game. Binghamton was kept off the scoreboard for the first time in three games after beginning the season with a pair of 2-1 victories over Lehigh and St. Bonaventure.

Sophomore forward Kahkaya Davis leads the team with two goals. Junior keeper Rebecca Kessler has a 1.20 goals against average.

Marist is coming off a 3-2 home loss to fellow America East team NJIT on Sunday. The Red Foxes began the season with a 4-0 loss at Fordham and a 2-1 setback at Colgate. In that NJIT game, Marist owned a 12-4 shots advantage but the Highlanders broke a 2-2 halftime tie with the winning goal in the 56th minute. Three different Marist players have a goal apiece to start the season. In goal, Maddy Catalanotti has played exclusively and has a 3.00 goals against average.

The Red Foxes were picked to finish 10th (of 13) in the MAAC Preseason Poll. Third-year head coach Nicole Pacapelli Ciano served three seasons on the Binghamton staff (2020-22) prior to taking over at Marist.

The teams are 1-1-2 all-time head-to-head. In the last meeting in 2022, they played to a 1-1 draw in Poughkeepsie. Binghamton has a three-game unbeaten streak in the series, having won in 2018 (2-0) and tied in 2013 (1-1). Marist took the first game between the two programs, 2-0 in 2012.
