Men's tennis defeats Mercyhurst 5-2

Box Score ERIE, Pa. – Binghamton men's tennis (8-10, 4-1) picked their fourth Northeast Conference victory of the season after defeating Mercyhurst (5-6, 3-1) 5-2 Thursday afternoon.

Binghamton claimed the doubles point after Andre Ajed and James McPherson earned a dominant 6-1 victory in the No. 3 slot, while Ronin Lotlikar and Harry Liao battled for their victory in a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker set.

Lotlikar extended his singles play win streak to seven matches after defeating Mercyhurst's top player Danylo Rekun, 3-6, 7-5 and 6-3.

Filipe Costa cruised to a win in the No. 2 position, winning 6-3, 6-0. Andre Ajed won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 and Giannis Sakkas won in a three-set battle 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 to claim Binghamton's fifth and final point of the day.

The Bearcats return to play on Saturday against Chicago State at a neutral site location, beginning at 4 p.m.
