Undefeated Bearcats bring six-game shutout string into Sunday matchup with Big Ten opponent

VESTAL, N.Y. - Undefeated Binghamton women's soccer meets its second straight Power 4 opponent when the Bearcats (4-0-2) travel to College Park to face Big Ten member Maryland (2-2-1) on Sunday. The teams clash for the second time in four years at noon at Ludwig Field.

Binghamton is riding high after a 1-0 upset win over ACC member Syracuse Thursday night. The win extended the team's record shutout streak to six games - longest season-opening shutout stretch in America East conference history. The Bearcats also are unbeaten in their last 19 regular-season games dating back to August 2025 (12-0-7) and are one of just three teams across the country to begin 2026 with six consecutive shutouts (Wake Forest, Saint Mary's).

Senior keeper Rebecca Kessler leads the entire nation in shutouts (6) and goals against average (0.00). She made six saves against Syracuse and has a current 540-minute scoreless streak. Though no Bearcat has scored a goal in three games (own goal vs. Cuse), junior forward Jahkaya Davis leads with three goals on the season and senior forward Paige Luke has added two.

Maryland has suffered back-to-back 2-0 losses (to Navy and ODU) after opening the season 2-0-1. The team's leading scorer is sophomore Penn State transfer Jolie Farmer, who has four goals in five games. Farmer scored 110 goals in high school. The Terps went 6-11-1 last season with one of those victories being a 1-0 win over fellow America East opponent UMBC. Maryland is strong at Ludwig Field, having gone 8-5-1 at home in the last two seasons.

In the first meeting between the two programs on Sept. 10, 2023, visiting Maryland cashed in on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to win 1-0 at Bearcats Sports Complex. The Terps held a 12-6 shots advantage and Binghamton led in corners 5-4.
