RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Freshman forward Michele Galvin netted the game's only goal in the 40th minute and Binghamton women's soccer (1-1) made it stand up in a 1-0 road win over Manhattan (1-2) Friday evening in the Bronx.

Galvin took a cross from sophomore Stephani Church and slotted a shot into the lower corner in the waning minutes of the first half.

Senior keeper Carrie Martin had to make just three saves in recording the shutout.

Binghamton held a 23-12 shots advantage.

"It was a great win tonight," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We had awesome energy and I thought we improved on all the things we wanted to see from our first game. We could've had more finishes but we're finding our rhythm on the field and getting stronger on the attack, which is exciting to see. The players are showing great attitudes and it was a complete team effort. Now we have to recover and get ourselves ready for Sunday."

The Bearcats complete a three-game away stretch with a match at Iona at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
