STORY LINES
Binghamton (4-8-0, 2-0-0 AE) enters Homecoming Weekend on a two-game winning streak. The Bearcats last beat New Hampshire 1-0 last Saturday on an unassisted goal in the 84th minute by senior midfielderDerrick Ladeairous. Sophomore forward Alex Varkatzas continues to lead the team in scoring with two goals and four points. Ladeairous is one of four Binghamton players who had a goal and an assist so far this season. Sophomore goalkeeper Robert Moewes has recorded a pair of shutouts.
Vermont (6-5-1, 1-1-1 AE) played to a scoreless draw against UMass Lowell on Wednesday. Brian Wright leads the America East with seven goals and 17 points so far this season. In goal, Conor Leland has recorded four shutouts heading into this weekend.
Vermont leads the all-time series 6-5-3, having won the past three meetings against the Bearcats. Last year, the Catamounts took a 2-0 decision on Oct. 5, 2013. Binghamton's last win in the series was a 1-0 Homecoming victory on Oct. 9, 2010.
This year marks the fourth time in seven years that Vermont will be the Bearcats' Homecoming opponent. In addition to the 2010 win, Binghamton also won 1-0 on Oct. 18, 2008. In the last meeting, however, Vermont scored on a penalty kick in the second overtime to win 1-0.
In seven previous Homecoming games at the Bearcats Sports Complex, the Bearcats are 4-2-1. The average attendance for those games has been 2,183, which includes a pair of sellouts (2,500 capacity).
