PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Host Brown captured the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches to defeat Binghamton (4-1) 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Getting the win for BU was freshman No. 5 Ludovico Cestarollo, who posted a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Aaron Sandberg. Ludovico (11-7) rallied from 5-2 down in the second set to close out his match in straight sets.

The Bearcats had a pair of matches feature first-set tiebreaks but came out on the short end of each and suffered four straight-set losses. Freshman No. 4 Valentin Bouchet pushed his match to a third set but suffered just his third collegiate loss (12-3).

"Today was a disappointing match," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We didn't match the focus and intensity of Brown in the doubles. We managed to get the ship going
the right way in most of the singles but we didn't convert our opportunities when we had leads. Ludovico did well to finish his match from down 5-2 in the second. We are looking forward to competing tomorrow and building on the lessons of today.

Binghamton faces St. John's at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Life Time Athletic Center in Westchester.
