HARRISON, N.Y. - Host St. John's (8-1) took the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches to defeat Binghamton (4-2) 5-2 Sunday evening at the Living Life Center. The Bearcats earned wins at the top two singles positions and also got a win at third doubles. Â

Eliott Hureau provided the big highlight for the Bearcats when he posted a 2-6, 6-0, 6-2 upset win over 56th-ranked Lucas Hejhal. Classmate Sid Harzarika also was victorious, 6-4, 5-7, 10-8, over Daniel Skripnik at No. 1 singles.Â
Hureau improved to 5-1 in duals, 12-6 overall.Â
"We found another level today but it was too late," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "If we can start matches the way we finished today we are going to be a dangerous team. We've got to commit to the intensity and focus consistently. I'm very proud of the efforts from Eliott and Sid today. They battled through some physical issues and scored two big wins."
Binghamton next plays the first of two matches in Virginia with a tilt at VCU on Friday in Richmond.
