ITHACA, N.Y. - Fifty-third ranked Cornell (6-8) won the doubles point and then rattled off six singles wins to defeat Binghamton men's tennis (7-5) 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Reis Tennis Center.
Binghamton pushed three singles matches to a decisive third set but came up short in each.Â
"Today was a very disappointing match for us," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We didn't compete well the whole way through. We need to get much tougher in order to close out matches and sets. We give ourselves chances and opportunities up to a point but we don't trust the process the whole way through. We've got to learn quickly and put this one behind us as conference play begins Friday."
The Bearcats head to Buffalo for a pair of MAC matches this weekend. The Bearcats will face reigning MAC champion Buffalo on Friday and Western Michigan on Saturday.
