MUNCIE, Ind. - Binghamton men's tennis (8-7, 1-2 MAC) took the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches to post a 5-2 win over host Ball State (6-9, 1-2 MAC) Friday afternoon at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center. The win, BU's first in conference play this spring, snapped a three-match losing skid. Â
Senior No. 2
Eliott Hureau dropped his first set but roared back to post a 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 win. Hureau improved to 17-9 overall, 10-4 in duals. Junior
Thomas Caputo only dropped four games in his commanding 6-0, 6-4 win at fourth singles. Earlier, Caputo and junior
Frenk Kote paired for a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles to clinch the first point for the Bearcats. Freshman
Valentin Bouchet also was a double-winner. He went three sets for a win at No. 5 singles after pairing with senior
Sid Hazarika for a 6-2 win at third doubles.
"I'm proud of the way we competed today," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "It's not easy in this conference to go on the road and get wins. Ball State was loud and looking to protect home court but we didn't let that distract us. We've been improving with each match, and we certainly still have our best tennis in front of us. "Eliott did a great job battling back after a tough first set today, and Thomas put in a great performance to help clinch the doubs point and then set the tone with a solid straight sets singles win."
Binghamton concludes its two-match road trip at Toledo on Sunday morning.  Â
