TOLEDO, Ohio - Binghamton men's tennis (9-7, 2-2 MAC) won four of six singles matches, including the final two, to rally past host Toledo (7-13, 0-3 MAC) 4-3 Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 3-2 with two matches left, BU won both when junior No. 4
Thomas Caputo wrapped up a straight-set win and then freshman No. 3 Lodovico Cestarollo captured the deciding match, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Earlier, senior
Eliott Hureau improved to 18-9 overall, 11-4 in duals with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles. Shortly thereafter, freshman No. 5
Valentin Bouchet wrapped up his 6-1, 6-3 win.Â
"I'm very proud of the guys today for their attitude and fight," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We responded to losing the doubles point very well by taking four first-sets in singles, which was crucial. Then we stayed very professional to seal three straight-set wins. It was a great job by Ludovico to clinch the match under pressure. Credit to Toledo ... they made this a great dual match. I'm glad we came through with the 'W.'"
The Bearcats host MAC leader Western Michigan (15-4, 3-0 MAC) at 3 p.m. on Friday.
