PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Binghamton men's tennis (11-7) made it four wins in a row with a 4-3 victory over host St. Joseph's (10-11) Sunday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex. The Bearcats shook off dropping the doubles point and won four of the six singles matches to prevail.
Freshman
Valentin Bouchet improved to 19-8 overall with a straight-set win at No. 4 and junior
Thomas Caputo won his fourth straight match, also in straight sets at No. 3. Two days after his clinching win in BU's big 4-3 victory over Western Michigan, junior
Frenk Kote moved up a spot and was first off the court with a 6-3, 6-2 win at fifth singles. Freshman No. 2
Ludovico Cestarollo won his 17th match of the season with a three-set triumph. Â
"We're glad to be on the right side of another close dual match," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We definitely weren't at our best today and St. Joe's made us pay in the doubles. Our guys responded well after going down a point with a couple of early breaks and then started to play some solid tennis. There's a lot for us to improve on though. Credit to St. Joe's for making this a hard-fought match on their Senior Day."
Binghamton will reschedule their upcoming home match against Colgate for either Sunday or Monday.Â
