VERONA, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis (0-1) opened its spring season with a 4-3 setback against Bryant Sunday afternoon at Sportsplex at Turnstone Resort.Â
The Bulldogs took the doubles point with a tiebreak win at No. 1 before the teams split the six singles matches. Binghamton led 3-1 with three singles matches remaining but lost each one.Â
"Credit to Bryant ... they fought well today and never gave in when we had leads," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We've got to be much sharper with the lead though. We had the first breaks on all the doubles courts and we had control of the match, up 3-1. But we lost a little focus and it cost us. We had multiple match points to close it out, so we were right there but there is a lot of work to do to get us over that hump."
Freshman No. 2
Tiago Lourenco posted a straight-set win in his first collegiate dual match and raised his record to 9-5. Senior No. 3
Thomas Caputo improved to 10-4 with his three-set win. Freshman No. 4
Kushaan Nath also notched his ninth win of the year with a straight-set win.Â
The Bearcats next face region power Cornell Thursday in Ithaca.Â
