Swimming & Diving Dominates at Niagara

Both teams post impressive victories Saturday afternoon

NIAGARA, N.Y. - The Binghamton swimming & diving programs both posted wins at Niagara on Saturday. The men topped Niagara 191-107, while the women beat Niagara 182.5-117.5 and Siena 235-53.

Men
Binghamton posted 10 individual and two relay victories in the meet. The Bearcats 200 medley relay of Zach Kaplan, Matt DeVito, Patrick Wilson and Alex Brion grabbed first place with a time of 1:36.28. Kaplan, Travis Blank, Tyler Meyers, and  Brion teamed up to win the 400 free relay (3:15.54).  

Alex Brion continued his undefeated streak in the free style sprints winning the 50 free (21.45) and the 100 free (47.62). Ryan O'Connell won both diving events scoring 257.05 points in the one meter dive and 233.30 in the three meter dive. Matt DeVito won the 200 butterfly (1:57.59) and the 100 butterfly (52.75).

The Bearcats other first place finishers included, Cooper Langanis in the 200 free (1:47.70), Zach Kaplan in the 100 back (53.51), Patrick Wilson in the 200 back (2:13.41) and Andrew Holtzman in the 500 free (5:01.79).

Women
On the women's side, the Bearcats also recorded 10 individual and two relay victories. The 200 medley team of Kristina Keefe, Sydney Atendido, Brooke Pettis and Olivia Santos finished first with a time of 1:49.69. Binghamton's 400 free relay of Abby Koerwitz, Kaitlyn Lange, Courtney Foley and Olivia Santos also finished first with a 3:41.30.

Kristen Pozmanter lead the Bearcats with two individual wins in the 1000 free (10:43.79) and the 500 free (5:19.09). Olivia Santos also added two top place finishes in the 50 free (24.92) and the 100 free (54.42). In addition, Sydney Atendido won two events for Binghamton - taking first place in the 200 breast (2:30.25) and the 100 breast (1:06.78).

Binghamton's other top finishers included, Brooke Pettis in the 200 butterfly (2:10.56), Abby Koerwitz (1:00.79), Nicole Digiacomo in the 200 back (2:12.72) and Maria Trivino in the 400 IM (4:43.75).

Both teams travel to Colgate next weekend for a dual meet.
