Men’s Soccer Inks Four High School Standouts

Muller, Arzan, Stamper and Pyszka to join program this coming fall

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton men's soccer team has announced four National Letter of Intent (NLI) signings for the 2017 season. All of them will join the program as freshmen this coming fall.

"This group of four are not only talented on the field and in the classroom, but are also high character guys. It is a very well balanced group of players, all of which will compete to play their freshman year," head coach Paul Marco said. "Our class has players right up the spine of the team... a center back, a holding midfielder, an attacking midfielder, and a striker. All four players come from successful clubs where winning is important and they compete at the highest level in the country. Please help us welcome these four to an already talented and high performing Binghamton team."

Jack Muller (Upper Falls, Md.) is a forward from Perry Hall High School. As a senior, he was named second-team All-State and first-team All-Metro by the Baltimore Sun. Muller was also named all-county four times and graduated as the second-leading goal scorer in Perry Hall history. His club team is Baltimore Celtic, which was the 2016 National League Champion and placed third overall in the 2016 USYS National Championships.

"Jack is a very athletic, hard working striker," Marco said. " He loves to compete and is very good in the air. He holds the ball up in build-up play and looks to bring others into the game. With his pace he also can run in behind the back line."

Lucas Arzan (Forest Hills, N.Y.) is a midfielder from the Beacon School. His club team is Everton FC Westchester in the USSF Developmental Academy. Arzan was called up twice for the USSF market trainings. He won the Helsinki Cup with HJK and trained with Fulham FC in England.

"Lucas is a clever attacking midfielder," Marco said. "He likes to connect and make the game. Lucas is a great passer of the ball and also has the ability to beat opponents on the dribble. With his vision and knowledge of the game, he will be a threat in the middle of the park."

Chris Stamper (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) is a midfielder/back from Spackenkill High School. He was named first-team all-state in 2015. Stamper also plays for Everton FC Westchester's Academy team. In 2016, he gained West Ham Academy elite player experience as well as SYL FC Cincinnati experience. The previous year, Stamper was part of the SYL National Pool.

"Chris is a holding midfielder who excels in his role" Marco said. "He keeps possession of the ball and protects the two center backs. He is a very good striker of the ball with his left foot and has a good range of passing. Chris also brings good size to the team."

Ryan Pyszka
(Leesburg, Va.) is a senior center back who plays for Coach Munson at Heritage High School. As a Junior, he was chosen both first-team all-conference and all-region as well as second-team all-state. His club team is the Loudon Soccer Club. Under the direction of Mark Ryan, the team was a USYSA National Championship finalist. This team was also the regional champion of the National League.

"Ryan is a talented center back who is a natural leader," Marco said. "He is a great competitor, a good 1v1 defender, and is very good in the air. Not only is he a good defender, he has good feet which allow him to be comfortable on the ball."

Binghamton went 7-6-6 in 2016 and was ranked as high as No. 10 in the NSCAA East Region Poll. The Bearcats have posted back-to-back winning seasons in the highly competitive America East and advanced to the 2015 conference finals.
