NEW YORK - No. 24 Columbia captured the doubles point and then won all six singles matches to defeat Binghamton men's tennis 7-0 Saturday afternoon at the Dick Savitt Tennis Center.
"We had chances in the doubles ... we fought back from a break down on third doubles to get it back to even but didn't maintain the aggressiveness to keep it going," head coach Nick Ziuziula said. "We played well on No. 1 also with a couple unforced errors at 4-4 to give up the break. Unfortunately we weren't tough enough in the singles to hang with a top 25 team. When you make unforced errors they make you pay and they don't give you many freebies. Kushaan (Nath) battled well today in singles and doubles - he is showing a lot of growth which is huge for us. We have a great opportunity tomorrow to learn from the last two matches, and our last opportunity to play before MAC play begins."
The Bearcats next head to Virginia for a Sunday afternoon match at Richmond. Â
