BOSTON, Mass.  – Junior
Brandon Love and sophomore
Jenna Chan recorded individual victories, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the River Hawk  Indoor Track & Field Invitational, which was held on Saturday at The Track at New Balance. There was no team scoring kept at the meet.
Love captured the men's pole vault with a first-place height of 15-7 feet. Chan, meanwhile, captured the women's 60 hurdles with a time of 8.75. Chan now has three first-place finishes in three meets so far this indoor season.
Runner-up finishes on the women's side were turned in by senior
Carolyn Burnell in the 3,000 (10:04.68) and graduate student
Stephanie Cassens in the 1,000 (2:54.38).
On the men's side, second-place finishes were recorded by sophomore
Jaston Ormsby in the weight throw (56-5) and junior
Marcus Johnson in the triple jump (46-9).
Junior
Josh Stone was third in the men's 3,000 (8:22.75)
Also on Saturday, graduate student
Aziza Chigatayeva and freshman
Sydney Leitner competed in the 3,000 at the John Thomas Invitational, which was hosted by Boston University. Out of 104 finishers which included several top collegiate runners and unattached professionals, Chigatayeva was 23rd (9:27.62) and Leitner was 50th (9:46.23).
Up next for Binghamton is a pair of meets this coming Saturday – the Penn State National Open and the Kane Invitational. Â
