Bearcats record seven individual victories, set two school records

ITHACA, N.Y. - Seniors Samson Joseph and Lucciana Robertson won individual events and set school records in the process, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the Cornell Big Red Outdoor Track & Field Invitational on Sunday afternoon. There was no team scoring kept at the meet.

Binghamton also sent a handful of distance runners to the Bucknell Outdoor Challenge this past weekend. There were no top-eight finishes by the Bearcats but the meet did feature a number of top programs in the Northeast. That meet also did not include any team scoring.

Joseph won the men's 100 in a time of 10.32. That eclipsed the 2017 automatic timed school record of 10.52, which was set by John Alkins. Joseph also broke Alkins' record in the preliminary round with a time of 10.47.

Robertson, meanwhile, captured the women's high jump with a program-best height of 5-8 ½. She had shared the previous record of 5-8 with Ashley Aupont, who established the mark back in 2012.

Other individual winners on the men's side at Cornell included junior Matthew Oluwole in the high jump (6-5 ½), redshirt freshman Gannon Traymore in the hammer (207-3) as well as freshman Owen Keating in the pole vault (15-11).

On the women's side, the other first-place finishes on Sunday were turned in by sophomore Savanna Edwards in the 400 hurdles (1:00.50) and redshirt freshman Juliana Juras in the discus (129-8).

Up next for Binghamton are meets at UAlbany (Friday) and Virginia (Friday-Saturday).
