FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. -- Binghamton (5-7) split six singles matches with host St. John's but lost the decisive doubles point in a 4-3 setback at the hands of the Red Storm Sunday afternoon at the National Tennis Center.
St. John's won handily at third doubles and then used a 9-7 win at the top spot to clinch the first point.
In singles, the Bearcats picked up straight-set wins at second and third singles to square the match at 2-2. Sophomore
Robin Lesage rolled to a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 and freshman standout Sid Hararika moved his record to 10-2 with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3.
Down 3-2, BU gained its third point with a win by junior
Ruben Haggai at No. 6 singles. But the Red Storm clinched the win in the day's final match - a three-set triumph at No. 5 singles.
Binghamton next faces No. 50 Yale and St. Bonaventure in New Haven, Conn. next Saturday.
