Hall of Fame
A native of West Seneca, N.Y., Jeff Wolniewicz played golf at Binghamton from 2003-2007. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management in 2007 and went to earn his MBA from Binghamton in 2009.
A three-time all-region selection and two-time team captain, Wolniewicz led the Bearcats to a pair of NCAA Regional appearances in his four-year tenure. He graduated holding the second-lowest scoring average in the 19-year history of the sport (75.07).
As a freshman, he recorded four top-10 finishes, including a runnerup showing at the America East Championship and a third place finish at the 90-man Cornell Invitational.
One year later, Wolniewicz was named first team All-New England after producing a 74.2 scoring average. He was medalist at the prestigious Yale MacDonald Cup after firing a final-round 66 and also recorded runnerup finishes at the Towson Classic and the Central Connecticut State Invitational. In 12 tournaments, Wolniewicz had eight top-10 performances.
In his junior season, Wolniewicz led the Bearcats to their third NCAA appearance in a five year span. He held a 75.4 scoring average, highlighted by a first-place finish at the New England Championship, where his 68-73 led the Bearats to a pivotal team title. He also posted a third-place showing at the Yale MacDonald Cup — a finish buoyed by a final-round 68. Wolniewicz was honored with repeat All-New England accolades and also was named a Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholar.
Wolniewicz held down a 74.3 scoring average in his senior season, which included six top-10 tournament finishes. He carded an opening-round 67 and finished runnerup at the Dartmouth Invitational. The Bearcats narrowly missed another NCAA at-large championship berth but Wolniewicz was recognized as a PING All-Region selection after being ranked as high as No. 2 in a district encompassing seven states in the Northeast.
Off the course, Wolniewicz was a three-year member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a three-time GCAA Scholar-Athlete recipient, two-time America East Scholar-Athlete and two-time SUNY Chancellor's Award honoree. He won the University's 2007 Jake Pitler Award for athletics career achievement and leadership.
