Hall of Fame
A native of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Dave Ciocchi played baseball at Binghamton from 2008-12. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management.
Ciocchi was a four-year starter for a Bearcat program that began its rise as a perennial conference power during his tenure. A stalwart first baseman with 193 career games played, he was a three-time all-conference selection who churned out production in the heart of the lineup. Ciocchi hit .342 in his career, fifth-highest in program history. He holds the school record with 51 doubles and ranks No. 2 in both hits (245) and RBI (162).
He made an immediate impact as a freshman, leading the 2009 championship team with a .381 average. Batting fifth for the regular season and tournament champions, he produced 56 hits and 41 RBI and was named America East Rookie of the Year and a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. Always raising his level in the postseason, Ciocchi hit .385 in the conference tournament and .429 with eight RBI in three games at the NCAA East Carolina Regional, earning All-Tournament Team laurels.
As a sophomore, Ciocchi helped lead the Bearcats to a repeat America East regular season crown and hit .451 over the final 23-game stretch. He totaled seven home runs and 57 RBI and was a first team all-conference selection after ranking among the league leaders in batting average and RBI. He played all 51 games and committed just two errors in 193 chances at first base.
In his junior season, Ciocchi repeated as first team all-conference and ranked 35th in the nation in "toughest to strike out" with just 12 strikeouts all spring. Ciocchi had a .445 on-base percentage and led the team with 12 stolen bases.
As a senior captain in 2012, Ciocchi again led the team in home runs (4) and RBI (33) and off the field, was honored with a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence.
Ciocchi concluded his career ranked among the program's top-5 in six different categories.
